Endeavors

by jemfinch

So moments ago I decided that I will join the next major writing contest here in our country.

I know my plate is currently full what with the upcoming competitions I will both participate in and handle, acads and running for a position in our org. But I thought about it and I just figured that I needed this. I do my best in school and in my org for myself but largely for my family and orgmates. This new endeavor I choose to do for myself and myself alone because I’ve always wanted to win a major award outside of school.

The competition starts next month and I really hope I see this through.

Best things

Some of my favorite shots from our class field trip.

Making new friends. (Especially after a weekend of trekking around a city six to seven hours away from where you all first met.) Still one of the best things in the world.

Along with blue, blue skies.

The rest of our lives

by jemfinch

I think one of my favorite takes on love is from Greek mythology, as Plato cited in The Symposium:

“According to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate beings, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.”

The first time I read that I fell in love with the idea. Of how that’s what life is all about or at least should be about, even if a lot people don’t believe it for themselves–finding that one person to spend the rest of your life with because in the first place, you were supposed to begin it with them. Of how when you find the one you’re really meant to form a whole with, you’re a lot more powerful that even the Greek gods fear you. Of how you’re never really complete unless that ultimate person is with you.

It may not be true for everyone. But it’s exciting to believe that it’s true for me.

It would mean that whatever I have to offer is exactly what he needs and what I need is what he is going to be able to offer.
